09.11.09 Fabric Swatches

I scanned my fabric and opened it with Photoshop to crop the image to put onto Illustrator:
Crop image in Photoshop and set to 72 resolution.
Swatch Library- loads of different (right hand side).
Create swatch-left hand side- left click and drag then select shape ( Ctrl + C = Copy).
File> Document Set up > landscape.
Window > stroke> increase (on right hand side).
(for blog- file > export > j.peg).
New page > open > swatch.
Create new swatch: Open swatches1/2 etc AND scanned swatch.
Copy and paste scanned swatch into other swatch page.
Drag scanned swatch into “swatches” box on right.
Drag new scanned swatch icon into shapes to create swatches.

Edit swatch- warp/crinkle/crystallise tool on left- interesting effect.

To organise: View > show rulers >right click on ruler and change to mm, inches or cm.
Window > align > drag over swatches and click on preffered alignment (NB: One line at a time!!!)

Create background > object > rectangle

OR.... Create another rectangle swatch
Drag to fill background
Right click and send to back

I created sample swatches just to get a good idea of how to do it.

I then used my scanned fabric to create swatches.
